Privacy Policy
⚠ This is a starting template, not legal advice — have it reviewed
before real launch. It's written to accurately reflect what this
codebase actually collects and stores as of today; update it if that
changes (e.g. if you add SMS, analytics, or ad tracking later).
What we collect
- Email address — for login and alert delivery.
- Password — stored only as a bcrypt hash, never in plain text.
- Saved locations — a label, zip code, and (if you opt in via "Use my current location") precise latitude/longitude, used to check AQI and fire proximity.
- Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details, only a Stripe customer/subscription ID.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your location or email with advertisers.
- We don't use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. (Update this if that changes.)
- We don't display ads.
Third parties involved
Your saved zip codes are sent to the EPA's AirNow API and NIFC's public fire data service to retrieve air quality and fire information — these are public government data services, and only zip/lat/long values are sent, never your email or account details. Payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe's own privacy policy.
How to delete your data
You can permanently delete your account and all saved locations at any time from Account settings. This removes your record from our systems immediately.
